Title: APEX 18.1 and beyond: What's new?

Abstract :

Oracle Application Express 18.1 focuses on declaratively integrating data sources from remote databases and extending applications running on the cloud via REST. A new Create Application Wizard enables you to add components and features to new and existing applications. Upgrading to the latest Oracle JET and jQuery JavaScript libraries will further allow APEX to take advantage of new and improved data visualizations and widgets. In this session, we will show those new capabilities and show some of the numerous enhancements to JET Charts and the Interactive Grid.

Bio: Carsten Czarski works for Oracle in Germany since 2001, where he started in the Presales organization helping customers and partners regarding database-centric application development. Since March 2016, Carsten is a member of the Application Express development team. The focus of his work is on the new support for REST services in APEX 18.1 - beyond that and others, Carsten looks after the Calendar component and the Data Loading facility. Carsten is a frequent speaker at international user group conferences.

Title: APEX plugin-in from a PL/SQL developer perspective

Abstract:

You've heard of the APEX plug-in framework and you know you probably should use it. But you do not know, understand, or appreciate JavaScript so you avoid it. After all, just about 100% of the documentation shows how to do it using lots of cool JavaScript for front-end magic.

In this session we're banning JavaScript completely to focus on using plug-ins for the kind of magic PL/SQL developers can do with it. While it is very hard to find documentation for it and what you find can be confusing at times, it is a pretty straightforward process and not too complex at all.

Come to this session to see a plugin using nothing but PL/SQL and APEX is built from scratch and get the tools for your own toolbox to use plug-ins in your next project.

Mathias has over 25 years experience in the IT-industry, primarily focused on complex and transaction-intensive systems. He has worked as a consultant for well-known companies on both sides of the pond. Today he is the CEO of Evil Ape and is the founder and leader of the SWEOUG user group in Sweden.
